Pará Moves Forward with Forest Concessions: Sustainable Model to Combat Deforestation

The Government of Pará continues to advance the forest concession model as a sustainable strategy to combat illegal deforestation. The measure aims to transform forest exploitation into an economically viable practice, while preserving the environment and ensuring the responsible use of natural resources. The forest concession model allows areas of the Amazon to be managed sustainably, promoting the controlled protection of resources such as timber, without compromising local biodiversity.

Forest concessions are an important step towards tackling deforestation in the region, one of Brazil’s biggest environmental challenges. In addition to generating jobs and income for the local population, the project contributes to strengthening the green economy in Pará by incorporating sustainable forest management practices that respect environmental laws and encourage the development of a more balanced economy.

With the success of this model, the Government of Pará intends to expand concessions to even larger areas, strengthening the state’s role in combating deforestation and preserving the Amazon.
