Helder Barbalho and Hydro global CEO participate in a bilateral meeting at the World Economic Forum
Governor of Pará spoke about the expansion of Usinas da Paz, an instrument of social transformation that counts on the partnership of Hydro
In its participation in the World Economic Forum, in Davos, Switzerland, the Government of Pará presents what it has been doing to mitigate the impacts caused to the environment and exposes opportunities for international companies and governments to corroborate, with environmental investments, the reduction strategies of greenhouse gas emissions. The government delegation also dialogues at the Forum to strengthen the commitments established in the State Plan for the Amazon Now (PEAA). This Tuesday (17th), Governor Helder Barbalho met with Hydro’s global CEO, Hilde Merete Aasheim, during the event’s agenda of bilateral commitments.
At the meeting, the governor of Pará and president of the Consortium of Governors of the Legal Amazon (CAL), Helder Barbalho, emphasized the successful experiences that have been obtained through Usinas da Paz (UsiPaz) – multifunctional complexes of the Government of Pará that provide actions of security and citizenship, aiming at social transformation and reduction of violence.

More than 70 services are offered by state bodies and partner institutions to the community at each Plant. More than 1.7 million services have already been provided, from October 2021 to December 2022.
Hilde Merete Aasheim exposed the investments made by the company to reduce carbon emissions and green energy. After the bilateral meeting, a possible meeting with the Minister of the Environment of Norway should take place, to improve the dialogue on these actions.
The secretary of Environment and Sustainability of Pará, Mauro O’de Almeida, also participated in the meeting and informed possible contributions that can be offered by the company. “Investment is needed in the area of the environment, such as in productive restoration, positive agriculture and other actions within the context of the Amazônia Agora Plan, which we are executing”, said Mauro O’de Almeida.
Protagonism – With the theme “Collaborating in a fragmented world”, the World Economic Forum will take place from January 16 to 20 in Davos, bringing together world leaders and the main heads of state and government. More than 50 heads of state and 200 central bank ministers are expected to attend the event, which should bring together 2,700 participants.
With global prominence, especially for the candidacy of Belém to host the United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP 30) in 2025, the State of Pará is present at the annual meeting with the leadership of Governor Helder Barbalho.
The World Economic Forum is recognized as the main economic agenda at the international level. The space is aimed at interaction, exchange and mapping of business opportunities, giving leaders the necessary tools to deal with the current complexity and build a better future.

The Amazon Agora State Plan has as its central objective to bring Pará to climate neutrality in the area of “land use and forests” before 2036. The PEAA has seven axes of action, four of which are main and involve improved inspection and licensing activities “Command and Control”, acting in the fight against environmental crimes and in the environmental regulation of economic activities; territorial organization through the Regulariza Pará Program, which accelerates land, environmental and health regularity actions; socioeconomic development of low emissions of Greenhouse Gases (GHG), through the Sustainable Territories Program, which operates in technical assistance and generation of credit for sustainable rural production, and long-range environmental financing, which has the Amazon Fund as its exponent Oriental, aimed at raising funds that stimulate state actions, civil society and the business sector.
