Governor Wilson Lima receives the President of Germany

At the meeting held at Teatro Amazonas, the governor of Amazonas thanked the German government for its partnership in projects that help fight deforestation

One day after being reinstated as governor, Wilson Lima returned to Teatro Amazonas this Monday morning (02/01) to fulfill his first official agenda of the second term and receive the president of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, who is visiting oficial in Brazil and came to Amazonas to learn about environmental actions and projects developed with the support of the German government.

On the occasion, during a guided tour of one of the main postcards of the state, Wilson Lima highlighted that the investments made by the German government, through official cooperation, have borne fruit such as actions to combat deforestation in the Amazon and encourage rural production. sustainable in the state.

“My first official agenda as governor in this second term is the visit of the President of Germany, a very symbolic visit to the state of Amazonas, to the Amazon and to the world. Because this sends a message of the concern that we have with the protection of our environmental assets, but above all with the protection of the population”, stated Wilson Lima.

The president of Germany announced investments in the country of around €35 ​​million for the Amazon Fund, which was reactivated by the Federal Government to finance projects to reduce deforestation and monitor the biome.

Frank-Walter Steinmeier came to the state of Amazonas to learn about the results of projects and actions that rely on investments made by the German government, such as Torre Atto, in São Sebastião do Uatumã (247 kilometers from Manaus), which monitors weather conditions of the region and issues of the greenhouse effect, coordinated by Brazilian and German researchers.

Wilson Lima highlighted that the European country is the main partner of Amazonas and that this partnership with the state government provided investments in projects to prevent and combat deforestation, including the structuring of the headquarters of the State Secretariat for the Environment (Sema) and the Institute of Amazonas Environmental Protection (Ipaam) , in addition to a project aimed at farmers to encourage the sustainable use of soil in state conservation units, also with investments from Germany.
