Belém expands tree planting actions and reaches a record number of seedlings

In two years of management, the City of Belém, through the Municipal Secretariat of Environment of Belém, has intensified the tree planting policy of the capital of Pará. During this period, the agency has promoted several activities to make the population aware of the importance of environmental preservation and reforestation.
In 2021, 547 tree species were planted, including mango trees and others adapted to the region. This year, the number of trees planted in the capital of Pará was almost five times higher than the previous year. Granja Modelo – The increase in the forestation of the city is the result of the recuperation of the Granja Modelo, which for years was abandoned by the public authorities and is now receiving, again, investments from the Belém City Hall. The space has started to produce seedlings for the afforestation of the capital city of Pará.
The tree planting and landscaping actions were intensified during the month of September 2022, during the “Green September” operation, whose main objective was to prioritize the tree planting in the peripheral areas of the capital of Pará.
